4:30 – 6:00 pm
Join Wendy for an enchanting evening of Kirtan and Yoga Nidra with our community.
‘Kirtan,’ is a form of chanting/singing/humming, or call and response. This is a vibrational practice where sound, words, and music may bring us to a higher vibrational plane, resonating with our highest selves and potential. Participants are welcome to use their voices, or even movement, in any way that feels right for them. (You don’t have to be able to sing well or carry a tune!)
After Kirtan, we will settle into a posture of final relaxation, preparing to lie for an extended Savasana, or Yoga Nidra, the ‘yoga of non-doing.’ Nidra asks us to stay awake and aware of the practice, and is a lovely, nuanced practice. (Yoga Nidra is a Sanskrit term meaning “yogic sleep” is a deep relaxation technique, a form of guided meditation, and is a state between sleeping and waking.
Some of the benefits of Yoga Nidra include …
- Calms the mind
- Relaxes and rejuvenates the body
- Soothes the nervous system
- Reduces fatigue
- Lowers blood pressure levels
- Strengthens immunity
- Improves quality of sleep
These two practices blend beautifully, celebrating breath, sound, and relaxation. A perfect way to end a weekend evening.
Dress comfortably, bring water, and any other items to support your practice of ‘non-doing.’ (You are welcome to use the studio’s props if you don’t have your own.)
Everyone is welcome. No prior yoga or kirtan experience is necessary.
